Groovy little number from the good old days of Sesame Street with the weird woman and those worms. Written and animated by Pixar’s Bud Luckey, lyrics by Don Hadley, sung by Kathy Gori (thanks for the info, suladog!). For more goodies, see my site, The Sesame Street Lyrics Archive. Enjoy! www.tinyd.net The broadcast of this video is authorized by Sesame Workshop. Thank you so much! Lyrics: One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven Eleven o’clock, time to get up It’s a lovely eleven morning I heard eleven worms yawning I saw eleven cows sleeping ‘midst the buttercups I said, “How’s your cottage cheese?” And they said, “Oh, dry up!” Oh! Eleven little birdies in the trees Bright yellow beaks and pinky knees Eleven chicks hatching Eleven cats scratching Eleven’s the number for me Eleven ducklings quacking Eleven pigs, lips smacking One two three four five six Seven eight nine ten eleven Eleven’s the number for me Don’t you see? Eleven’s the number for me!

    I’ve been searching for “if you’ve lost your L” for some time now, but to no avail. I’d love to hear that song again.

    @giantpanda371
    Probably because of the silly simpering way she asked it.

  9. PandaMishima says:

    @redfox409
    I think she means “pinky knees” which those birds do have.

    @suladog My autistic brother loves your voice, he listens to this all day all week for hte past four or six months. =)

    What do they mean pekinese? Bright yellow beaks and no pekinese. I see no pekinese dogs.

    It’s my favorite as well. I still sing it (to my kids dismay).

  13. PatrickLMT says:

    Hey, thanks for posting the singer’s name. That’s fascinating. My favorite line was, “I saw eleven cows sleeping, midst the buttercups. / I said, ‘How’s your cottage cheese and they said, ‘Ah, dry up!’”

    This stuff brings back memories. That’s for sure! Thanks for posting it.

  14. neuekim says:

    The singer is Marilyn Sokol, a well-known New York character actor who worked for many years with Jim Henson. Cheers!

  15. neuekim says:

    One of my favorite SS clips, voiced by the incomparable Marilyn Sokol, who worked closely with SS for years even while making a big name for herself in theater. Thanks for posting!
